ISFA Seeking Public Comment on Quartz and Solid Surface Standards DocumentsThe International Surface fabricators Association has issued a call for public commentary on its Standards documents for Quartz and Solid Surface.

An important function of the International Surface Fabricators Association is to provide stakeholders in the surfacing industry with education and information about the products and methods that they use.

With the collaboration of ISFA manufacturing members, teams of experienced ISFA members have reviewed and updated the existing ISSFA-2-01 (2007) Classification and Standards for Solid Surfacing and have republished this standard as ISFA-2-01 (2013) Classification and Standards for Solid Surfacing Material. To parallel this standard the ISFA has completed the first step in creating ISFA-3-01 (2013) Classification and Standards for Quartz Surfacing Material.

The draft versions of these two standards are now available for public comment and input. The ISFA is soliciting comments on these draft standards from any interested parties. The period for public comment will be open until close of business on October 15, 2013.

Following the public comment phase, the documents will undergo an additional stage of review, based on the input from interested parties. Spokesmen for the ISFA anticipate that both standards will be presented to the ISFA board of directors for their approval this fall.

The draft versions of the two standards now available for public comment and input are listed below:

  • ISFA-2-01 (2013)  Classification and Standards for Solid Surfacing Material
  • ISFA-3-01 (2013)  Classification and Standards for Quartz Surfacing Material
